After school, Emily hung her yellow canvas(帆布) bag over her shoulder, and cycled off to catch the wind.

Emily’s neighbor, Mrs. Hill, shook out a wet sheet(被单)and fastened it on the clothes line.

“Hello, Mrs. Hill,” called Emily. “I need to catch the wind in my yellow bag. Will you help me?”

“Catch the wind? Whatever for?” asked Mrs. Hill.

“For the big race at school,” said Emily. “I will need the wind at my back or I will finish last.”

“You cannot catch the wind,” said Mrs. Hill.

“But your sheets have caught the wind,” Emily said.” See them flapping back and forth?”

“I guess that is true, Emily,” agreed Mrs. Hill. “But today I need all this wind to dry my clothes.”

“Oh,” said Emily.” Maybe I can catch the wind tomorrow.” She turned and cycled for home.

The next afternoon, Emily hung her yellow bag over her shoulder and cycled off to catch the wind. In the distance, she saw a box kite soaring high in the sky. As she rode toward it, she saw a boy flying a kite.

“Can you help me?” Emily asked. “I need to catch the wind.

The boy turned and laughed. “What a silly idea!” he said. “No one can catch the wind.”

“But your kite has caught the wind,” said Emily. “Otherwise it would fall to the ground.”

“Well then, I need all the wind to fly my kite,” the boy told her.

Emily was disappointed.

The next day, Emily once again cycled off to catch the wind. She cycled by a silver-blue lake and watched quietly as a sailboat neared the shore.

“Please, Sir,” she called to the boatman, “could you help me catch the wind in my bag?”

“You cannot catch the wind!” the boatman answered.

“But your sails have caught the wind,” Emily told him.

“So they have!” the boatman laughed. “And I need all this wind to sail may boat.” He waved goodbye and sailed across the lake.

 II. 概要写作 (50%)

阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。

Manners nowadays in big cities likeLondonare practically non-existence, it’s nothing for a big, strong schoolboy to elbow an elderly woman aside for the last remaining seat on the bus, much less stand up and offer his seat to her.

This question of giving up seats in public transport is much argued by young men, who say that, since women have claimed equality, they no longer deserve to be treated with courtesy(礼貌、谦让) and that those who go out to work should take their turn in the rat race like anyone else. Women have never claimed to be physically as strong as men. Even if it is not agreed, however, that young men should stand up for younger women, the fact remains that courtesy should be shown to the old, the sick and the burdened. Are we really so lost to all ideals of unselfishness that we can sit there indifferently(冷漠地)reading the paper or a book, saying to ourselves “First come, first severed”, while a grey-haired woman, a mother with a young child stands? Yet this is all too often seen. Many an argument or a quarrel breaks out as the weary queues push and shove each other to get on buses.

If cities are to remain pleasant places to live in at all, however, it seems urgent, not only that communications in transport should be improved, but also that communication between human beings should be kept smooth and polite. All over cities, it seems that people are too tired and too rushed to be polite. Shop assistant's won't bother to assist, taxi drivers growl(咆哮) at each other as they dash dangerously round corners, bus conductors pull the bell before their passengers have had time to get on or off the bus, and so on and so on. It seems to us that it is up to the young and strong to do their small part to stop such deterioration(恶化).

概要写作参考答案: It seems manners in big cities don’t exit any more. Young men argue that it is unnecessary to show courtesy to women who have claimed equality. However, the weak should be treated politely. To make the city a pleasant place to live I, it is important to improve the communications between people. Therefore, it is high time that the young and strong played a part in stopping the situation becoming worse. (71)

“I will catch the wind all by myself,” Emily said. On her way home, the wind breezed softly above her head. It suddenly hit Emily that she could make the best use of her yellow bag. Without any hesitation, she opened the bag, hung it and went cycling. The desire of the wind urged Emily to spare no effort to cycle as fast as possible so that she could succeed in catching the wind on her own. On arriving at the destination, quickly but cautiously, Emily zipped up her bag with great satisfaction.

On the day of the race, Emily stood at the starting line. Much to her excitement, she was fortunate enough to use the wind she caught for the race. Strongly as her heart pounded, Emily ran freely with her yellow bag on her back. Dashing through the finishing line, she won the first prize, which was an extraordinarily incredible thing she had ever imagined! Curiosity drove her to look inside the bag. However, there was nothing. It was at that time when Emily had realized it was her confidence and strong willpower that helped her get access to success. Standing with sweat and sweet, she heard the blessing of wind.

2. 概要写作

Manners gradually disappear in big cities. Young men abandon bus manners due to women’s pursuing equality. However, whether we can turn down those who are in need stirs a heated discussion. Anyway, it’s significant that people should develop communications both in transport and humans, which seems to be neglected owing to their daily exhaustion and rush. Moreover, it’s high time that people should do something to prevent deterioration.

“I will catch the wind all by myself,” Emily said. It occurred to her that keeping the yellow bag open could let the wind fly into it. So she decided to rush forward as fast as possible to catch more wind. Soon quite pleased with her bag full of wind, she closed it with caution, murmuring, “Wind, wind, please help me win the race.”
On the day of the race, Emily stood at the starting line. She was carrying the bag, which stunned all the people present. Thinking this bag would undoubtedly increase her burden, some of her friends tried to persuade her to put it down but without success. As the referee declared the race started, Emily dashed swiftly as if a gust of wind. The high speed blew everyone's mind. Eventually Emily became the first one to run through the ending line. Nevertheless, worry lined her face when checking the bag. "Where is my wind?" she wondered. After she told the whole story to her friends, they laughed, “What really helps you was not the wind but your process catching the wind.”

“I will catch the wind all by myself,” Emily said. The following day, Emily cycled nowhere but secretly slid into the air garden on the roof. As the wind blew hard, she excitedly took off her yellow bag, watching it breathing in much wind. “That’s enough”, Emily murmured, and quickly zipped her bag up. Astonishingly, the bag became flat forthwith. It had caught no wind at all! The wind then died away. Emily turned her head to the sky disappointedly. All of a sudden, she noticed a bird flying by without the aid of the wind. She let out cheerful scream, “I’ve caught the wind!”

On the day of the race, Emily stood at the starting line. She smiled to herself, “Come on, Emily! Show yourself!” As soon as the gun shot, Emily ran forward like an arrow. The race was so fierce that it took up all her concentration, hastening her pace and adjusting her breathing. Dashing through the finish line first, Emily won the championship. When asked about her secret, Emily answered, “Train hard, trust yourself and catch the wind from your heart. Besides, I’d like to express my gratitude to those who taught me I couldn’t catch the wind outside!”

2. 概要写作

Manners are disappearing in big cities. Young men, refusing to give away seats, argue that women pursuing equality no longer have the right to demand privileges. Even so, we are still supposed to offer seats to those apparently weaker groups.

For cities, communication between citizens is to be improved. It seems people from all walks of life are too busy and tired to show courtesy. But still, the situation is awaiting the young and strong to change.

“I will catch the wind all by myself,” Emily said. She opened her yellow canvas bag, hoping the wind could run into it. Ten minutes later, she closed her bag carefully and looked at it with an excited heart. However, to her disappointment, there was nothing in her yellow bag. Emily tried over and over again, but in vain. “Mr. Wind, where are you? I need you to help me with the race. Maybe I should try another way to catch you,” Emily said, feeling pretty sad. She cycled quickly to relax herself. While cycling, she found her hair and clothes flapping in the wind. “I get it!” Emily smiled.

On the day of the race, Emily stood at the starting line. When it was her time to show, she cycled her bike as usual. Then she cycled more and more quickly, as if the wind belonged to her. “Look! My hair and clothes have caught the wind. They are flying in the wind,” Emily shouted. She got the first prize of the race for her good idea. And what made her even happier was that she learned that nothing is impossible with a willing heart.

2. 概要写作

Nowadays, courtesy disappears completely in big cities likeLondon. Many young men think they shouldn’t give up seats in public transport, because women become as equal as men. It can be usually seen that men are indifferent to those women who are grey-haired or stand with a young kid. Therefore, courtesy should be improved and it’s our duty to do better to stop such deterioration.

I will catch the wind all by myself,” Emily said. Emily turned her bike around, riding towards the bank of the river rapidly. This time she decided to catch the wind all by herself rather than ask someone else for help. She opened the bag unhesitatingly and hung it over her shoulder. Staring at the distant place firmly, she began to ride so as to collect as much wind as she could in her yellow bag. Beyond any doubt, the faster she rode, the more exhausted she felt, as if the front was impossible for her to get to. The bag bulged slowly, which made Emily excited. Fastening her bag tightly, she cycled for home filled with pride and told herself she had achieved the goal.

On the day of the race, Emily stood at the starting line. She put the bag full of the wind over her back confidently. With the signal of starting sent out, Emily rushed out like a frightened rabbit. Due to the bag over her back, she felt as if she was flying in the sky flexibly. At last she won the race, which was significant to Emily. During this unforgettable experience, she realized that nothing is impossible. Equipped with firm faith and ambition, we can get our targets. We should rely on ourselves which is closely related to our success, thus do remember that don’t ask others for help easily. It’s we ourselves that bring everything that seems impossible into reality, which matters a lot.

2. 概要写作

Manners nowadays seem to disappear. Men argue that it’s not necessary to be polite to women since they have asked for equality, causing men’s attitudes to women to become indifferent, which leads to arguments and quarrels. It’s supposed that courtesy should be offered to the old and the sick for they aren’t physically strong as men. Throughout cities, people may be too tired and too busy to be polite, thus the communication between humans need to be improved and kept smooth and polite not only in transport. The young and strong need to stop such a severe phenomenon getting worse.

“I will catch the wind all by myself.” Emily said. She took her yellow bag and turned the bike around with the determination of catching the wind on her own. She then cycled to a big farm. It was windy that day and without any barrier there, the wind was powerful and just as strong as the resolve in her mind. Then she started to cycle, her yellow bag remaining open, to catch as much wind as she could. Finally she stopped cycling and closed her bag which was full of wind, satisfied.

On the day of the race, Emily stood at the starting line. She stared at the final line confidently. The gun gave the signal of starting. Emily began to run. She was so eager to win the race that she ran faster than ever before. Her body seemed to be so light with the help of the wind. She finished first as was expected. Standing on the stage, she felt more than joyful. This experience was meaningful to her because it brought her growth as well as glory. Now she knows that a person can’t always rely on other individuals, otherwise he would fail when others are unwilling to do him a favor. It was the consciousness of independence that made her successful. Just make up your mind and act unhesitatingly, and the goddess of victory will smile to you.

2. 概要写作

There are little manners in big cities nowadays. Some young men argued that being gentle to women wasn’t necessary now due to the equality between males and females. But the fact remains that we should be kind to people who are weaker than us instead of treating them indifferently. Communications should be improved in many aspects. More impolite behaviors come into being with the speed of city life increasing. It seems that the young men should take their responsibilities to stop these.
